Call channels work like virtual phone lines, giving you the ability to handle multiple inbound and outbound calls at once. Each active call uses a channel, whether it’s someone ringing your Number People number or you making an outbound call through a VoIP user.
When forwarding a call to a landline or mobile, two channels are used: one for receiving the call on your Number People number, and another to forward it on. However, if you’re forwarding to a VoIP user, or making an outbound call, you only require a single channel.
To get you started, we include 5 call channels free with your account, which is more than enough for most customers. But if you’re expecting a high volume of calls, for example, during a busy promotion or when you need a larger call group, you can add more channels easily from your customer portal.
Channels are billed on a rolling 30-day basis and can be added or removed at any time, so you stay in full control. If you see any blocked call alerts regarding channel useage exceeded, it’s a quick fix: just increase your channel count to unlock more capacity.
